Our very first fundraiser
We decided to share Arran’s story on Facebook to introduce him to the our world, to raise awareness of baby loss and to raise some funds for a very good cause. It was a very difficult decision to do this and was not one that was taken lightly. I’m sure most who know me would consider me a private person, yet here I was, about to share the most devastating part of my life for all to see. I was scared, I felt vulnerable and I was nervous. I questioned if this was something I really wanted to do about a million times, but at the same time, Arran is so beautiful and he deserved to have his story told. We also desperately wanted to help other families who would have to go through all this pain.
We really hoped to be able to raise enough to funds for 2 cuddle cots to help other bereaved parents. The response we got was overwhelming and we can’t believe that Arran’s little story touched so many.
We raised an incredible £3,569.60. This allowed us the opportunity to purchase the 2 cuddle cots we set out to achieve. We even had a little left over which we used to have some plaques engraved for the cuddle cots and we purchased some little teddy bears to gift to parents who sadly lost their baby. Both the cuddle cots and teddy bears were donated to University Wishaw Hospital Maternity Unit.
It was a great achievement for us to be able to do this in memory of our precious little boy. To know that families who face the same journey as us will be given as much time as they need with their baby is the greatest gift we could give in such circumstances.
We couldn’t have done it without those who supported us and who gave so generously to help us reach our goal so thank you all so very, very much.
